Discovering Faith
Throughout life, most of us are on a path to seek after peace. As we search for our place in this life, there are various philosophies and teachings that promise to lead us to that place of peace. However, the Bible teaches that only a deep and abiding faith can help us face all of life’s challenges while also deepening our own understanding of ourselves. Discovering faith, as described in the Bible, can be a guiding light that offers hope, peace, and a deep sense of purpose.
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
Faith is a powerful source of strength for believers, as it helps fuels our trust in God and confidence in His plans for us. Faith provides answers to life's most pressing questions and offers us peace, even in the face of a life that can be full of advirsity. Faith brings the assurance that there is a higher purpose to our existence, a plan for our lives, and a loving God who has carefully laid the path for us to follow.
One remarkable example of faith and trust in God's plan in the Bible is Abraham. God calls Abraham to leave his homeland and follow Him to a land He would show him. Abraham's journey required him to step into the unknown, leaving behind his family and all that had been familiar to him.
Hebrews 11:8 "By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going."
Abraham believed in God's promises of life, even when the path ahead of him was unclear. This example serves as a powerful reminder that faith is not merely about belief but about action. It is about trusting God's plan, even when it seems uncertain to us, and being willing to take bold steps towards what God has in store for us. Just as God fulfilled His promises to Abraham, He can and will fulfill His promises in our lives when we live by faith.
The journey of discovering faith is a personal and transformative one. As we navigate life's twists and turns, faith can help us realize that we are not on this path alone. God, who not only laid our the path for us but is with us, and we find our lives have meaning and value within God's greater plan. A plan that calls us to be with Him as His children.
2 Corinthians 5:6-7 “So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in
the body we are away from the Lord for we walk by faith, not by sight.”
